The Toronto Blue Jays gave right-hander starter Alec Manoa a drastic prescription.
The Blue Jays announced on the 7th (Korean time) that they were dropping Manoa to the rookie-level Florida Complex League with a minor option.
Manoa, who finished third in the American League Cy Young Award voting last year, has been struggling this season. He is 1-7 with a 6.36 earned run average in 13 games and 58 innings pitched.
The content is worse. He has a 1.897 WHIP with 1.7 home runs per 9 innings, 6.5 walks and 7.4 strikeouts.
His biggest problem is walks. After allowing 51 walks in 196 2/3 innings last season, he has allowed 42 this season alone. That’s the most in MLB.
The Blue Jays team, which had been patiently watching him, also failed to block even one inning in the home game against the Houston Astros the previous day, giving up a large number of runs and pushing the button.
Sending him to the rookie level instead of triple-A means realignment after all. He plans to mend his disheveled pitch at the club’s training facility in Dunedin, Florida.
Toronto coach John Schneider said in an interview with local media such as ‘Sports Net’ that he has not decided when he will return. He added that he would bring it back “when he feels he is ready.”
Toronto, which had operated a rotation of five starting pitchers so far, was forced to change its rotation due to Manoa’s departure.메이저놀이터
Bowden Francis, who was called up that day, may be an alternative. He had a 3.45 ERA in 15 2/3 innings in 4 starts for Triple-A Buffalo this season.
Toronto also brought back Chris Bassitt, who was on maternity leave, and infielder Santiago Espinal, who was on the disabled list with a hamstring injury.
Infielder Ernie Clements and right-hander Jay Jackson returned to Triple-A. On the 40-man list, right-hander Jack Thompson was designated for transfer.
