The Korean women’s volleyball team, led by coach Cesar메이저놀이터 Hernández González, also bowed in the second match of Group C of the 2024 Paris Olympics qualifiers. Korea lost with a set score of 1-3 (22-25 26-24 21-25 9-25) in the second match of Group C against Poland held in Łódź, Poland on the 18th (Korean time).
With this, Korea lost twice, and Poland had two wins along with the United States, Italy, and Germany. Korea, Colombia, Thailand, and Slovenia each lost twice.
Unlike the first game against Italy, Korea performed relatively well against Poland. So-Hwi Kang (GS Caltex) and Seung-Ju Pyo (IBK Industrial Bank of Korea) scored 16 and 15 points, respectively, and middle blockers Joo-Ah Lee (Heungkuk Life Insurance) and Ho-Young Jeong (Jeong Kwan-Jang) combined for 17 points, including 6 blocking.
However, they lost in a firepower confrontation with Poland. Poland’s left and right twin guns showed strength.
Magdalena Stasiak led the team’s attack with 22 points, the most for both teams, and Martina Lukasic scored 20 points.
Korea started a counterattack when they were down 19-23 in the second half of the first set. Although it was a somewhat late chase, Lee Joo-ah’s attack and Kang So-hwi’s serve shook the Polish defense. Poland succeeded in scoring in the second half of the set and took the first set, but Korea lifted the mood.
The 2nd set was similar to the 1st set. Korea chased down in the second half of the set, and unlike the first set, Kang So-hwi’s attack and the opponent’s mistakes were combined to balance the score at 21-21. Korea, gaining momentum, scored consecutive goals and took the lead at 23-21.
Poland caught up and it became a deuce, and this time Korea laughed. In a 24-24 situation, Pyo Seung-ju became the solution. Seungju Pyo scored two consecutive points at deuce and Korea balanced the set.
The game ended in 3 sets. Korea had a close match with Poland. However, Poland’s determination was ahead of Korea’s. Poland took the third set and took the lead.
The 4th set match was bland. Poland widened the score gap in the middle of the set with Stasiak and Lukaszic, and solidified their victory by going up 16-7.
Korea lost significantly to Poland in the height match. Poland recorded 22 blocks, and Korea’s Lee Joo-ah and Jeong Ho-young worked hard, but only recorded 8 blocks. Korea will play its third match against Germany on the 19th. Poland will play its third game against Colombia on the 20th.
