The Toronto Blue Jays sprinted for three consecutive wins.

Starting pitcher Jose Berrios pitched well, allowing 1 run with 4 hits, 3 walks and 6 strikeouts in 6 innings. Berrios, who came to Toronto through a trade in 2021, signed a 7-year, $131 million (approximately 171.6 billion won) extension with Toronto after the season. Last season, he recorded 12 wins and 7 losses with an ERA of 5.23 in 32 games (172 innings), which fell short of expectations. 

The bullpen led by Trevor Richards (1 inning scoreless) – Nate Pearson (1 inning scoreless) – Eric Swanson (1 inning scoreless) kept the victory without conceding a run. On the other line, George Springer, Bo Bichet, Brandon Belt, and Alejandro Kirk played an active role with multi-hits. 

The Mets took the lead in the second inning with Starling Marte’s hit and Daniel Vogelbeck’s one RBI double. 

Toronto took chances on first and second base safely with Brandon Belt’s double and Matt Chapman’s walk in the sixth inning. Whit Merrifield and Dalton Basho retreated with a hit, but Alejandro Kirk hit a timely one RBI to tie the game 1-1. 

In the ninth inning, George Springer advanced to second base with a hit and a stolen base, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s 1 RBI double hit a turnaround.
