Elijah Kwon (14, Korean name Kwon Yul), who first started playing baseball in Koreatown in Los Angeles at the age of 8, ran into Choo Shin-soo, then a member of the Texas Rangers, at a restaurant in the United States in 2017. Elijah’s father asked Shin-soo Choo to take a picture for his son.

Choo Shin-soo, who was eating, responded to the sudden request for a photo shoot. He also signed the glove the boy had. When he heard that he was left-handed like himself, he took out a hat from his car and gave it as a gift.

The special meeting motivated the boy to dream of becoming a baseball player.

Eliza took first place with 9 home runs in the 2021 Elementary School Youth Home Run Derby held in New York State, USA. It is said that Elijah is the first Korean player to win the championship. Elijah is currently enrolled in the baseball team of a prestigious private school in the LA area (9th grade, 3rd grade in Korean school system).

The Elijah family, who recently visited Korea, visited the baseball field to express their gratitude to Choo Shin-soo, recalling memories from six years ago.

On this day, Choo Shin-soo delivered Elijah a ring commemorating the 2022 championship and a signed hat as gifts. 꽁머니지급

Choo Shin-soo said, “I think I saw it a while ago, but I’ve already grown up this much. Time seems to go by really fast.” “I’m the same age as my second son. I would like to see it,” he cheered.

Eliza said, “A lot of time has passed, but Choo Shin-soo still looks the same. It seems like his body has gotten bigger.” Thank you for allowing me to meet you through a special relationship. I hope you continue your career as an athlete without injury.”
